Catherine Annis

Catherine Annis, Founder and Director of Intelligent Yoga Teacher training, is well known for her imaginative and practical approach to yoga. Originally a professional dancer, Catherine discovered yoga as a teenager. Practicing since the late 1970s, she has explored approaches including Sivananda and Astanga before gravitating to the teachings of Vanda Scaravelli.

Catherine’s practice and teaching focuses on deepening physical awareness and alignment to reveal the natural freedom of the body, particularly the spine. She is an attentive and thoughtful teacher, and highly skilled at adapting poses to accommodate everyone in class, so that everyone leaves feeling they’ve made a new discovery about their practice.

Catherine is continually fascinated and inspired by the power and intelligence of our amazing bodies and by the gentle elegance and elastic movement of her cats. She holds an MA in Ballet Studies, is a qualified Thai Massage therapist and created the BWY accredited Intelligent Yoga Teacher Training Course in 2017.
