Diana O'Reilly

Diana O’Reilly is interested in using yoga and in particular, posture work, as a practical means of developing qualities needed in our day-to-day lives.  As such, asana practice is an open-ended exploration of familiar postures in such a way as to allow students to create uniquely personal feelings in the poses, encouraging the student to develop curiosity, confidence and autonomy.  Diana’s work is underpinned by the yoga philosophy set out in the Sutras of Patanjali.

C8 How To Fight - Our Role In Looking After The Planet
Date: Friday 29 Apr 2022 Time: 5:00 pm - 6:30 pm

As yoga practitioners, how do we confront the modern challenges of global warming, mass extinction and growing populism to name a few? These threats to our safety and security can frighten and overwhelm us, sometimes to the point of paralysis. 

What is our role in the current crisis?  Do we fight for the wellbeing of our world and if so, how? 

Do we become passive, believing that the universe will unfold as it should?  Do we adhere to non-harming (ahimsa) through inaction?  

This talk seeks to discuss the philosophical basis for fighting and the skills and practices that enable us to fight effectively in our various battles.

It will draw on the Bhagavad Gita, the Yoga Sutras of Patanjali and Thich Nhat Hanh’s book ‘How to Fight’.

There will be a small amount of posture work during this session.
