route=session-details/yoga-in-the-nhs--developing-your-teaching-in-healthcare
An informative and accessible powerpoint presentation, with a Q&A opportunity afterwards.
Gillian wrote her MA dissertation on Yoga within the NHS and is very much involved with the Gentle Years Yoga research that is being conducted at York and Northumbria Universities and managed by York Trials Unit as well as being a GYY tutor, so she is well placed to speak on this subject.
After situating yoga within healthcare in its broadest context, she will discuss how yoga in healthcare interfaces with the BWY and accredited teaching qualifications and the GYY specialist teaching qualification in particular.

Professor Garry Tew is the lead investigator on the GYY research trial. He will present the development of the GYY program, from inception to its current status as an Ofqual regulated level 4 specialist teaching qualification. He will give us an overview of the 2016 GYY pilot study which he also led, and will discuss the current largescale GYY research project that followed the pilot.
This current project is the most comprehensive yoga research within the UK to date, incorporating the largest trial participant group. It is being trialled in both face to face classes and online, with results due to be published in 2023.
