This workshop will focus on ways of releasing and energising the upper back. We will consider how smaller movements can inform and help to increase release throughout the whole spine, with a particular focus on the thoracic spine, shoulder girdle, head and neck. The workshop will include rotation movements, twists, side bending, flexion and extension. Applying Scaravelli principles of grounding, breathing and release of the spine we will bring attention to moving with more ease, focus and awareness to our practice, both in the simpler poses and the more dynamic poses of backbends and twists. The approach is suitable for all students.
