Dhyana: Meditation – going deep

Dhyana is the 7th limb of the 8-fold path of Patanjali Yoga. As our mind withdraws from the external in Pratyahara and becomes aware of its true nature in Dharana, there is a deep sense of an Inner presence in Dhyana. There is a spontaneous and effortless awakening of Being. Dhyana is the transition from “doing” to “being”!

Reflection on Dhyana deepens our understanding of meditation and contemplation.

In our session we will:

  • Look at the mantra OM, through the lens of the Upanishads, reflecting on sound, symbolism and meaning within the framework of Advaita philosophy.
  • Move through discussion, chanting and practice from sound to silence.
  • Develop a practice of meditation with OM
  • Transition from object-focused awareness to objectless awareness.
